South African Lobster Tail (6-8oz & 8-10oz.)
South African Lobster Tail (6-8oz & 8-10oz.)
DISTINCTIVE QUALITIES: The Rock Lobsters of South Africa (Panulirus Gilchristi), also known as Cape Lobster, offers sweet, bright white meat. Our South African Lobster Tail is both our personal favorite, and one of the most popular lobster tail options from Kolikof Caviar & Gourmet. Hand harvested from the deepest, most frigid and pristine southern waters of South Africa, these beauties are MSC Certified, sustainably caught, and have no chemicals or preservatives.
These cold water lobsters are allowed to thrive in their natural habitat and are only harvested at peak adult conditions to ensure the juiciest and most meaty tails. As one of the few truly premium lobster dining options available, the South African lobster tail we provide is renowned for its bright red shell color as well as its succulent inner white meat.
BEHIND THE PRODUCT: South African Lobster is also known as Cape Lobster, or spiny rock lobster. Did you know that lobsters molt their shells? As they molt, their shells harden. This means that the bigger the lobster, the harder the shell, the tougher the meat. While big lobsters tend to take the spotlight for their grand size, for your best lobster experience, it is our choice to sell only the 4-4.5oz. Size.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS: Lobster is one of the easiest meals to prepare when done correctly! Our easy to use pre-packaged lobster is ready to cook and can be prepared in no time at all. We recommend flaunting the tails of these beauties by steaming and serving with drawn butter, or simply grilled. Boiling lobster tails can release too much of its sweet flavor into the water—so please don't!
For a premium lobster dining experience, we suggest pairing with our Echire AOC French salted butter to go with your South African lobster tail and our other seafood selections.
